Which valley is better for a first visit?

Choose Koscieliska Valley. It is shorter, more varied and has more places to stop along the way, including the Mrozna Cave, which is open to visitors.

Koscieliska in brief

• about 16 minutes by car from our apartments
• a wide track along the stream, manageable with a pushchair in its lower part
• Mrozna Cave, Hala Ornak and Smreczynski Pond as natural stops
• narrow rocky gates - the most striking part of the valley

Chocholowska in brief

• the longest valley in the Polish Tatras
• wide and gentle, with no steep climbs on the main route
• covered in crocuses in spring, usually late March and early April
• a mountain hut on the Chocholowska meadow

With children

Both are gentle, but Koscieliska packs more to look at into a shorter distance.

Can you do both in a day?

Technically yes, but each takes several hours at an easy pace. Pick one and leave the other for next time.
